HibernX uses reusable trays or disposable cardboard boxes to store individual plasma units on specially designed compact shelves. Access to the shelves is via an XYZ coordinate robotic handling system, which facilitates loading and unloading through a buffer carousel. The integrated comprehensive control software manages all storage processes, monitors temperature, and other important climate conditions. This software easily integrates with existing LIMS systems, ensuring precise and automated sample management. Temperature stability and uniformity are ensured by an eco-friendly redundant refrigeration system, equipped with CO2 backup to protect the frozen plasma storage environment.

Plasma units can be retrieved in minutes based on specific criteria such as donation ID, quarantine status, blood type, or donation date. Additionally, HibernX allows for separate storage of quarantined and ready-to-use material, facilitating optimal plasma sample management.

The system can also be configured to store plasmapheresis units from 600 to 800 ml, as well as pediatric doses of 100 ml. This flexibility ensures that each configuration is tailored to the unique needs of plasma centers and blood banks.
